Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine which is compact, low-vibration, low-noise and highly reliable. SOLUTION: The washing and drying machine has a water tank 3 elastically supported in a housing 1, a rotary tub 5 rotatably provided in the water tank 3 and storing clothes, a heat pump cycle intended for drying clothes and composed of a heat absorber 21, a heat dissipator 23 and a compressor 26. The heat absorber 21 is installed in the same vibration system as the water tank 3. Since the installation of the heat absorber 21 in the same vibration system as the water tank 3 makes the machine compact, and helps reduce the length of an air duct, ventilation resistance is decreased and the volume of wind can be increased, and drying efficiency is improved. Furthermore, the installation of the heat absorber 21 on the top of the water tank 3 helps prevent bubbles and cleaning water from entering during washing, and the heat absorber 21 is reliable and durable, and dew condensate is drained well.
