Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for limiting resource usage of a version store. SOLUTION: Whether resources enough to complete a new transaction remain is judged before starting the new transaction. When the resources remain, the transaction is started and the accumulating total is adjusted. When the resources do not remain, the transaction is made to wait until more resources are available. When the transaction is completed, and if the transaction is the oldest in-progress transaction, the resources are released. Unless the transaction is the oldest in-progress transaction, the resources related to the transaction are not released until all transactions started before the transaction are completed.
