SOLUTION: At the time of power saving operation, a light emission control means 16 controls the light emission intensity of a light source means 14 to intensity lower than that of normal operation, and a gradation control means 12 controls gradations displayed by respective pixels in a light modulation means 10 to a level larger than that of normal operation.
