Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp in which a stable action is possible without giving an adverse effect to a phosphor layer of a light emitting tube, and which has a layer (ultraviolet ray transmission suppressing layer) to suppress transmission of light of a wavelength 400 nm or less. SOLUTION: The fluorescent lamp 1 is equipped with the light emitting tube 4 in which the phosphor is applied on the inner face, a driving circuit 5 of the light emitting tube 4, and a holder 6 to fix the light emitting tube 4 and a driving circuit 5. The light emitting tube 4 is covered by a globe glass 7. The layer (ultraviolet ray transmission suppressing layer) 8 to suppress transmission of the light of the wavelength 400 nm or less is installed at least at one of the inner surface and the outer surface of this globe glass 7. The ultraviolet transmission suppressing layer 8, for example includes that which is mixed with at least one kind of antimony trioxide, aluminum oxide, silicon oxide, and zinc oxide in addition to titanium oxide.
