Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car navigation system and a car navigation apparatus setting a destination by simple operations without requiring complicate operations. SOLUTION: A memory card in which a large number of image files photographed by a photographing apparatus equipped with a GPS function 100 are stored is allowed to be loaded into the navigation apparatus 150. All thumbnail image data at a header of the image files stored in the loaded memory card 200 are read to display thumbnail images represented by the thumbnail image date in list form. When either of the thumbnail images is designated by an operation of a cross key, GPS data corresponding to the thumbnail image is read to allow a position indicated by the GPS data to be set as a destination.
