Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, connectable to a network so that it can decide whether a certain network device may be at a sleep mode or a power source may be shut off, by sending a packet from another network device to a network device which might be at sleep mode and monitoring the responding packet. SOLUTION: If a network device 1 with a network controller 3 is a network device 32 in Figure 3, the responding packet is transmitted from the network device 32 to a network A in the network device 32 at the sleep mode, by transmitting a packet comprising specific instruction by a network device 31 for monitoring to the network device 32.
