PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bending method and a bending device capable of detecting the contact position of the work with a punch more accurately to bend the work at the time of bending the work by the punch and a die which are provided in a bending machine. SOLUTION: In the bending method for bending the work by the bending machine provided with the punch and the die, which are movable in the direction beong nearer to or away from each other, the moving stroke of the punch 7 from the contact position, where the punch 7 is in contact with the work W is obtsined, bending load in the early stage when the work W is bent and the moving position of the punch 7 are detected, the approximate expression of the bending load is determined on the basis of these detected bending load and the moving position, the moving position when the bending load is zero is obtained by the approximate expression, this determined moving position is taken as a pinching point, a difference is obtained by comparing the pinching point and the contact point, and the moving stroke is corrected by using the difference, thereby bending the work.
