Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoconductive imaging member having excellent wear resistance and containing a hole blocking layer having many advantages such as prevention or suppression of dark injection. SOLUTION: The photoconductive member contains the hole blocking layer, a photogenerating layer and a charge transport layer, wherein the hole blocking layer contains a metallic component and a binder component. The metallic component is preferably a metal oxide such as TiO2and the binder component is preferably a phenolic resin. The metal oxide preferably has a size diameter of about 10-100 nm and a primary particle size diameter of about 10-25 nm, and according to need, the metal oxide preferably has an estimated aspect ratio of about 4-5 and a powder resistance of about 1×104to 6×104Ω/cm when a pressure of about 650-50 kg/cm2is applied.
