PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve attachability between side wall sections and the skin of a wearer in the sides of a front section and a back section. SOLUTION: An absorbent article 1 has an almost sheet-like main section 2 and a pair of side wall sections arranged on both sides of the main section 2. The main section 2 comprises the front section 21 contacting the abdominal side skin of a wearer, the back section 23 contacting the back side skin of the wearer, and an absorbent section 22 arranged between the front and back sections 21 and 23. The side wall sections 3 have three-dimensional gather sections on the sides of the absorbent section 22 and folding sections extending from the three-dimensional gather sections. Because elastic members 33 are attached only to the three-dimensional gather section in the absorbent article 1, the contractility of the folding section is lower than that of the three-dimensional gather section. As a result, excessive bending of the absorbent article 1 in the front or back sections 21 and 23 is prevented, and attachability between the side wall sections 3 and the skin of the wearer is improved in the sides of the front and back sections 21 and 23.
