Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foldable portable radio apparatus with one antenna, which does not require a large space, displays high antenna performance for both opening and closing, and is suitable for miniaturization. SOLUTION: The foldable portable radio unit comprises a first case, a second case, a coupling part for connecting the first and the second cases in the form that these cases can be opened or closed, a conductive element arranged within the first case, and a power supply element arranged within the second case. When the apparatus is opened by the coupling part, the conductive element and the power supply element come closer mutually and can be electromagnetically coupled when power is supplied. When it is closed by the coupling part, these elements are farther away than when it is opened, and are not coupled electromagnetically when power is supplied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
