Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for retrieving the picture of a monitor system for speedily searching a time point when the difference of videos is maximum. SOLUTION: A plurality of first divided pictures are simultaneously reproduced on a screen, and each of these first divided pictures displays monitor pictures in different time zones in the same scenery in video data. Then, the first divided picture where the video difference of the adjacent divided pictures is maximum is selected. Then, the video data of the first divided picture are divided into a plurality of time zones. Then, the plurality of second divided pictures are simultaneously reproduced on the screen, and each of those second divided pictures displays monitor pictures in different time zones in the first divided picture.
