Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulator of an axial gap rotary electric machine in which molding work can be facilitated by minimizing the number of molding dies even in a split type insulator. SOLUTION: In the insulator 1 of an axial gap rotary electric machine comprising a plurality of stators each formed by winding a coil around a trapezoid columnar core through a trapezoid tubular insulator, the insulator 1 is composed of an outer circumferential side part 2 forming an outer bottom face part 1c, and an inner circumferential side part 3 forming an inner bottom face part 1d and a leg surface part 1e. The outer circumferential side part 2 and the inner circumferential side part 3 are provided with fitting faces 2a and 3a perpendicular to the outer bottom face part 1c and the outer circumferential side part 2 is fitted to the inner circumferential side part 3 from radial outside.
