PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of an oil burning appliance applying a dry cell as a main power source, capable of preventing the failure in operation of a safety device caused by the consumption of the dry cell by surely detecting the voltage of the dry cell. SOLUTION: This burning appliance 1 comprises an igniter 3 applying the dry cell 2 as its power source, an abnormality detecting means 4 for detecting a condition of a room where the burning appliance is installed, and an extinction mechanism 5 operated on the basis of an output signal of the abnormality detecting means 4, and further comprises the safety device comprising an automatic extinction device 6 operated in occurrence of abnormality such as earthquake for stopping the burning appliance 1, starting the operation of the abnormality detecting means 4 simultaneously with the power distribution to the igniter 3 in igniting operation by an ignition switch 7, and operating the automatic extinction device 6 by the extinction mechanism 5 in detecting the abnormality by the abnormality detecting means 4 to automatically extinguish a fire. A voltage detecting means 8 is mounted for detecting the power source voltage of the dry cell 2 in distributing the power to the igniter 3 by the ignition switch 7, and the extinction mechanism 5 is operated when the voltage detecting means 8 detects the abnormally-low voltage V to automatically extinguish a fire.
