PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper loading device capable of ensuring stable paper feeding conveyance property even for a paper sheet for guiding a user to set the paper sheet after separating a bundle of paper sheets or recommending feeding of one paper sheet conventionally by performing paper sheet separating operation actively for paper sheets loaded in the paper loading device without requiring user's labor and to provide an image forming device equipped with it. SOLUTION: This paper loading device provided with a storage part 21 inclined in the direction of conveyance to butt many paper sheets in the direction of conveyance and set them in an inclined condition and a paper feeding separation means 25 for feeding loaded and stored paper sheets one by one is provided with a paper thickness detection means 50 for detecting paper thickness, a surface property detection means 51 for detecting the surface property of paper sheet, and a paper sheet separating means 52 for performing paper sheet separating operation while coming into contact with an end face in the direction of conveyance of paper sheet. The paper sheet separating operation is performed at arbitrary time other than the time when a print job is performed based on information from the paper thickness detection means 50 and the surface property detection means 51.
