Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for regenerating titanium oxide contained in papermaking sludge or papermaking sludge incinerated ash to prepare titanium oxide having photocatalytic activity and to provide a method for manufacturing a titanium oxide-zeolite composite having photocatalytic activity from papermaking sludge incinerated ash or the like. SOLUTION: In this method for regenerating titanium oxide having photocatalytic activity, for example, titanium oxide-containing papermaking sludge incinerated ash is treated with an acid or an alkali. In the method for manufacturing a titanium oxide-zeolite composite having photocatalytic activity, (a) a mixture prepared by adding a silicon component to titanium oxide- and aluminum component-containing papermaking sludge incinerated ash or the like, (b) a mixture prepared by adding a silicon component and titanium oxide to an aluminum component-containing papermaking sludge incinerated ash or the like, (c) a mixture prepared by adding a silicon component and an aluminum component to a titanium oxide-containing papermaking sludge incinerated ash or the like, or (d) a mixture prepared by adding titanium oxide to incinerated ash or the like of an aluminum component- and silicon component-containing waste is treated with an alkali.
