PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit, an image screen display method, and a user interface for improving the operability by making switching between a photographing mode and a reproduction mode and switching between images coincident with a user's conceptional model. SOLUTION: The photographed image R of a present object is displayed on nearly the center of a display frame SC in a display screen ST1 in the photographing mode. When a user operates a time dial 22 to turn it by one step counter clockwise, the photographed image R is moved to the right and a reproduced image P1 acquired just before is displayed to the left of the photographed image R, and an image P2 reproduced before is located at the left of the reproduced image P1. The imaging unit is set to a state wherein the photographing mode and the reproduction mode coexist on a display screen ST2 on which the photographed image R and the reproduced images P1, P2 are simultaneously displayed. When the user turns the time dial 22 by one step counter clockwise, the imaging unit provides a display screen ST3 wherein reproduced images P1 to P4 only are displayed. The imaging unit is set to the reproduction mode in this state and displays a plurality of the reproduced images P1 to P4 side by side on a time axis. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
