Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for detecting a rotation angle of a rotating body for attaining an inexpensive and small-sized device with high reliability by providing two sets of magnetic detection element groups on one hole array. SOLUTION: The apparatus for detecting the rotation angle of the rotating body 1 arranges Hall elements H1-H8 to a magnet 5 at an interval of 90° on the circumference of a rotating shaft rotated by the magnet 5. The Hall elements H1-H4 from among the Hall elements H1-H8 belong to a first magnetic detection element group, and the Hall elements H5-H8 belong to a second magnetic detection element group. The two sets of the magnetic detection element groups generate differential data from the two Hall elements at an interval of 180°, detects the rotation angle α of the rotating body from the differential data, and determines the existence of abnormality occurrence.
