Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent scales from adhering or stacking on the surfaces of beams during operation. SOLUTION: This device removes, during operation, scales (s) adhered to the surfaces of the movable beam 1 and the fixed beam 2 of a walking beam type furnace. When the movable beam 1 is at a bottom position, a fixed injection nozzle 11 is disposed, in an erected state, on the longitudinal side of the movable beam 1 so that an inert gas can be injected toward the surface of the movable beam 1. When the movable beam 1 is at a top position, a movable injection nozzle 14 is installed on the longitudinal side of the movable beam so that the inert gas can be injected toward the surface of the adjacent fixed beam 2. Also, the device comprises pipes 12 and 15 guiding the inert gas from the outside of a furnace to the fixed injection nozzle 11 and the movable injection nozzle 14. Thus, since scales are blown off during operation by jetting the inert gas toward the surfaces of the beams not supporting a material, the scales are not adhered nor stacked on the surfaces of the beams.
