Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method and apparatus for organic waste water or sludge which can efficiently start up a system, maintain treatment efficiency at a low chemical cost, and highly maintain generation and recovery of MAP particles with high purity, high separability, and high handling. SOLUTION: In the treatment method comprising a generation process where the organic waste water or organic sludge is subjected to anaerobic digestion treatment, a magnesium source is added in the anaerobic digestion process, and magnesium ammonium phosphate (MAP) is generated from phosphorus, or phosphorus and nitrogen in the waste water or sludge, and a process for taking out the generated MAP to the outside of the system, an aqueous solution of an easily water-soluble magnesium compound is added as the magnesium source at the start-up of the MAP generation process.
