Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more effectively eliminate foreign matter such as paper dust on a recording medium being carried through a recording medium carrying passage. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a recording medium carrying roller 60 of large diameter provided on the recording medium carrying passage P, an endless foreign matter eliminating belt 61 pressed to the circumferential surface of the recording medium carrying roller to remove the foreign matter such as paper dust on the recording medium such as paper 90 being carried between them as it is attached to it, and a foreign matter recovering member to recover the foreign matter attached to the foreign matter eliminating belt. The foreign matter-eliminating belt 16 is a fur belt or the like provided around a plurality of rollers 62-64. The foreign matter recovering member is a scraper 80 or the like of which tip is in contact with the foreign matter-eliminating belt.
