Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat sterilization method intended for uniformly heat-sterilizing food in a container even of contents being not only liquid but also solid through using an inexpensive apparatus with small power such as a household microwave oven when heat-sterilizing packaged food during conveyance through irradiating microwave. SOLUTION: This heat sterilization method comprises intermittently conveying packaged food 1 with a belt conveyor 2, and at the same time irradiating microwave to the packaged food 1 in some stopping section using a plurality of microwave oscillating apparatuses 3 with small power (500-600W) and irradiating no microwave in the next stopping section, thus repeating a plurality of times irradiation and unirradiation of such microwave with small power (500-600W).
