PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize efficient use of a drive device and to prevent annulment of data caused by accidental trouble. SOLUTION: The drive device connected to a data transfer device B transferring data for recording and writing optically information in an optical recording medium according to data transferred from the data transfer device, is provided with an optical pickup 3 irradiating the optical recording medium 1 with a laser beam, a receiving means receiving data for recording transferred from the data transfer device B with the prescribed unit, a caching means caching received data in a cache memory, a signal generating means generating a write-in start indication signal so that write-in operation of information is executed between reception of a previous data block and reception of succeeding data block out of data blocks constituting data transferred from the data transfer device B, and a write-in means drive-controlling the optical pickup 3 according to data cached in the cache memory in accordance with the generated write-in start signal and writing optically information in the optical recording medium 1.
