Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sub-frame for a vehicle capable of exhibiting enhanced strength regarding the sub-frame for the vehicle attached on the vehicle body and to which a suspension device or a differential gear is attached. SOLUTION: In the sub-frame for the vehicle (rear sub-frame) 16, a lateral member (front part lateral member) 22 is provided with a recessed part 48 continuously recessed along the longitudinal direction of a lateral member body 52. The recessed part 48 is formed on a lower part of the lateral member body 52, and is upwardly recessed, and a shock absorbing member 51 is fitted in the recession. The strength of the lateral member (front part lateral member) 22 can be enhanced by the recession of the recessed part 48. The recessed part 48 is provided with a first vertical side parallel to a front side plate 54 and a second vertical side parallel to a rear side plate 56, and thereby the strength (a section modulus) with respect to the load is enhanced by the first and the second vertical sides 71 and 72, and the strength can be enhanced.
