Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method for line extraction for extracting line information in an image without being influenced by contrast of the image, line width, noise, or the like, and to provide a program and a line concentration degree image filter. SOLUTION: In this image processing method for line extraction, near regions r1, r2of narrow width fixed shape for measuring are prepared at both wings of a search line S passing each P, with respect to a plurality of measuring points P on the image. The direction of a luminance gradient vector of the image is measured at a plurality of near points Q in the regions, and a concentration degree is computed from the difference between the direction of the vector and the direction of S at each Q. A line concentration degree to P is computed from all concentration degrees, and it is determined to the effect there is line information along the direction of S when it becomes maximum. Basic added values usable in common at each P are computed beforehand on the basis of the concentration degree, and when measuring the vector direction, one is selected out of the basic added values and added in every direction of S to compute the line concentration degree of each P, and line information is estimated when it becomes maximum.
