Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device in which, despite its simple configuration, a stable nip can always be obtained even in the event that displacement occurs between a fuser roller and a belt unit. SOLUTION: The fixing device has the fuser roller 61 and the belt unit 62 which are in firm contact with each other and nip paper. The belt unit 62 includes: an endless fixing belt 63; a cylindrical nip guide 64 along the outer circumference of which the fixing belt 63 is freely rotatably wrapped and which has a recessed nip section 64A which abuts on the paper introduction side and ejection side of the outer peripheral face of the fuser roller 61 via the fixing belt 63; and a firm contact shaft 65 which abuts on the cylindrical internal face of the nip guide 64, supports the nip guide 64 so that the nip guide 64 freely swings on the paper introduction side and on the ejection side, is pressed to the fuser roller 61, and brings the nip section 64A of the nip guide 64 into firm contact with the fuser roller 61.
