Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is set to execute process control with a predetermined timing and further is capable of shortening a first printing time and obtaining a sufficient effect by process control, even while being configured to apply the drive force of a main image forming operation from a single drive source. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus 1 which comprises an automatic adjustment function by process control for making an image density into proper value and applies a driving force of a main image forming operation in an image forming step from a single driving source; a temperature of a fixing part 9 (heating roller 26) at the time, when a power source of the apparatus is turned on, is detected and if the detected temperature is a predetermined value or lower, or if the predetermined number of paper sheets are progressed, after the last process control, process control is performed when ending the first image forming work, after the power source has been turned on.
