Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous printing ink composition which is applicable to preprint and is yielded by using an aqueous resin varnish derived from a natural product, and to provide a printed matter having a printed surface good in heat resistance. SOLUTION: The aqueous printing ink composition contains the aqueous resin varnish yielded by hydrolyzing soybean proteins, acylating with a dicarboxylic acid anhydride, and then neutralizing with an alkali and is used for printing by preprint. The content of the aqueous resin varnish in the composition is ≥3 wt% and <20 wt% based on the whole composition in terms of solids. The printed matter is also provided.
