Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a wide field of view at the speedy frame rate, and to increase the volume rate by reducing the quality of other useless images while keeping the high quality of an image related to the region of interest only in synthesizing a three-dimensional image by displaying a detailed image for a part for which display of the detailed image is necessary. SOLUTION: A driving device 21 for changing the position of an acoustic element 20 for transmitting/receiving ultrasonic waves and an encoder (a position detecting means) 22 for detecting the position of the acoustic element 20 are mounted in a three-dimensional ultrasonic probe 2 connected to an ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus 1. A driving control device 10 for the driving device to control the position of the acoustic element based on the result of detection of the position by the encoder is mounted in the ultrasonic diagnosis apparatus. With this structure, the distribution of density of sound rays in each of ultrasonic tomographic images, being component elements of the three-dimensional image, is variable, and the range of interest for efficient scanning can be set in each ultrasonic tomographic image.
