Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup which conducts precise control with less power consumption and has a spherical aberration correction mechanism which is not influenced by oscillation and impact. SOLUTION: The optical pickup is provided with a spherical aberration correction mechanism 50 which is arranged in an optical path between a light source 51 and an objective lens 57 and is provided with a lens group 1a and 1b which correct the spherical aberration of a light beam. The spherical aberration correction mechanism 50 has at least a lens holder 2, which holds at least 1a of the lens group, and a supporting means which supports the lens holder 2 slidably in the direction of an optical axis. The supporting means is provided with; a surrounded-side member 8a and 8b and a surrounding-side member 4 and 5, wherein either the former or the latter is on a moving or fixed side and either the moving side or the fixed side surrounds the circumference of the other, and fixing mechanisms 21 and 22 which selectively tighten or press the surrounded-side member to the surrounding-side member to fix the moving side to the fixed side.
