PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium having; a substrate; a multiple times rewritable recording layer in which information recording is performed by phase transition reaction with irradiation by a laser beam; and at least a protection layer, an absorption control layer, and a thermal diffusion layer at a side opposite to a laser beam incidence side of the recording layer, and having a large cost advantages and a structure to prevent a crack of laminated film which causes a problem in case of long term storage. SOLUTION: A means for preventing a crack of a laminated film which causes a problem when long term storage is carried out is provided by comprising; the absorption control layer 6 containing the group VI element of large cost advantages; and a first crack prevention layer 5 of not less than one layer, which adjoins to the absorption control layer 6 and contains at least the nitride of the group VI element.
