Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the rotation angle control of a spindle in a workpiece holder for holding/releasing a workpiece using the rotation of the spindle of a machine tool. SOLUTION: Three parallelogrammic links 130 including levers 132, 134 and links 136 are turnably mounted to a casing 78, and each link 136 is provided with a holding part 176. The rotation of a rotary shaft 90 is converted into the turning motion of the levers 132, 134 by a motion converter 92 comprising an external screw member 180, an internal screw member 182, a projecting part 200 and a groove 202, and the link 136 is moved to hold the workpiece 10 by the holding part 176. The external screw member 180 has a small lead angle, and even if there is an error in the rotation stop position of a tool spindle 22, the stop position error of the holding part 176 is small, and control accuracy of the rotation angle of the tool spindle 22 may be low. Rotation angle control becomes much easier by transmitting the rotation of the internal screw member 182 to the external screw member 180 through a torque limiter 88 to prevent transmission of excessive torque.
