Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a grain-oriented electrical steel sheet by which even in the case of containing much grain boundary segregation elements and high Si content, a magnetic characteristic is not deteriorated and the surface defect can be reduced. SOLUTION: This production method is performed, by which; a step for preparing a starting blank composed by mass ratio of 0.020-0.090% C, 2.0-4.5% Si, 0.02-0.10% Mn, 0.01-0.04% Se and one kind or two or more kinds selected from 0.005-0.50% Cu, 0.01-0.25% Sn and 0.005-0.15% Sb and limiting ≤0.0020% S and the balance Fe except the inevitable impurities; a step for forming a slab forming the recessed part extended in the longitudinal direction in the starting blank; a step for heating the slab to ≥1300°C by charging the slab into a heating furnace; and a step for transporting the heated slab under state of directing the recessed part to the lower side, from the heating furnace to a rough-rolling mill so that the lower surface temperature of the slab at the starting time of the rough-rolling becomes ≥1200°C, are orderly passed through.
