Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical film having a hard coat layer which reduces curl and optical interference irregularity, a hard coat film, a polarizing plate, and a display unit. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical film having the hard coat layer consists of the step of casting the solution where a film resin material is dissolved in a solvent, on a support, peeling the solvent from the support in a process of evaporating the solvent by drying, applying the hard coat layer containing mainly an active energy ray curing resin on a film surface on the way of the drying in the process of further drying and forming into film, curing the hard coat layer by the active energy ray, and thereafter drying further the film and evaporating the solvent to manufacture it.
