Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition for controlling the proliferation of an encapsulated cell which combines various advantages of a proliferating cell and a differentiated nondividing cell. SOLUTION: In the method and composition, the distribution of a cell (namely, the number of cells in a BAO or the present position of cells, or both of them) is controlled, when a cell is encapsulated in BAO. (1) The method and composition modify the cells encapsulated in the BAO and (2) the composition modifies proliferation surface in the BAO. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
