Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably manufacture a liquid crystal display device with excellent display quality by adjusting a vacuum region formed between a pair of substrates, in a method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device using a liquid crystal dropping and bonding method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device has a step (P18) to form a panel part seal on a substrate, a step (P18) to form an outer edge seal for surrounding the panel part seal on the substrate, a step (P5) to drop the liquid crystal on the substrate, and a step (P21) to bond one substrate and the other substrate together in vacuum atmosphere so as to form the vacuum region. An area of the vacuum region is set to be 25% or less, desirably 10-25%, or more desirably 15-20% in the case an area inside the outer edge seal including the area of the outer edge seal itself is set to be 100%. By optimizing the area of the vacuum region, occurrence of alignment deviation between the pair of substrates, leakage of the liquid crystal, ununiformity of a cell gap and so on are prevented.
