Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an economical decomposition technique for halogenated organic compound having high decomposition efficiency, facilitating work, produced at a low cost and producing no secondary wastes by improving problems in a conventional DXNs decomposition technique. SOLUTION: This decomposition method for halogenated organic compound is characterized in contacting and heating a solution of a composition formed by containing a proteolytic substance produced by enzymatic or acid treatment of a protein or a sugar, or containing the proteolytic substance and simultaneously one or more compounds selected from a compound group composed of sugars and transition metal salts with halogenated organic compounds or contaminants containing the halogenated organic compound.
