Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe for puncture to support an appropriate diagnosis by an operator by forming the whole region in a notch for insertion of a puncture needle throughout an arrangement direction of ultrasonic vibration elements which form an ultrasonic wave transducing surface so that the quality of an ultrasonic image which is generated on the basis of an ultrasonic signal received by the above ultrasonic wave transducing surface is made uniform. SOLUTION: The ultrasonic probe 1a is constituted to include a pair of ultrasonic wave transducing surfaces 2a which are disposed with sound matching layers, acoustic lenses or the like on the two or more ultrasonic vibration elements arranged in parallel at both the sides of the notch 2aa, a puncture guide 3a having an aperture 3ab which guides the puncture needle N to project along the direction of arrangement of the ultrasonic vibration elements (a direction of ultrasonic scanning) on the ultrasonic wave transducing surfaces 2a through the notch 2aa which is located between the ultrasonic transducing surfaces 2a at a prescribed angle to the ultrasonic wave transducing surfaces 2a, and a slider 4a which supports the puncture guide 3a to move to draw a circular arc in a plane which passes through the notch 2aa.
