Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive composition for building materials which enables a thin coating and is friendly to the work environment. SOLUTION: The adhesive composition for building materials includes 80-97 pts.wt. hemihydrate gypsum, 0.1-1 pt.wt. hardening regulator, 0.03-0.5 pt.wt. water-soluble cellulose ether and 0.5-3 pts.wt. organic resin-based paste. The adhesive composition gives an adequate water retention and ensures a sufficient adhesion strength. No attention to the work environment is required, because of the absence of organic solvents in the composition. As a water-retention agent, aggregate such as perlite has been known. The adhesive composition uses a water-soluble cellulose ether in place of the aggregate, which allows a thinner coating of the adhesive on concrete bodies as compared to the aggregate.
