Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable fault contact detecting device, based on standard methods in the field of railway, and employment of semiconductor parts, that is provided with advantages of other types of fault contact detecting devices such as scanning type cable fault contact detecting devices and voltage addition type fault contact detecting devices. SOLUTION: This cable fault contact detecting device applies a DC voltage for measurement to a middle point in a device side matching transformer 34 for detecting fault contact between circuit lines 33 in a cable part 32. A plurality of shunt resistances 12a are provided to be normally energized to generate DC voltage for measurement. They are connected to apply voltage in parallel to the circuit lines continuously. A means to select the shunt resistance 12 in order to measure its voltage fall, and determine if fault contact exists or not based on result of measurement. The cable fault contact detecting device that is compact can thus be realized with high functions and performance of fault contact detection, and excellent stability and safety.
