Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorbing body which can increase the energy absorbing ability with a weight increase of several % or lower compared with a conventional energy absorbing body for which a two-dimensional laminated fiber structure is used. SOLUTION: This energy absorbing body 11 comprises a fiber reinforced resin with a fiber structure as a reinforcing material. The fiber structure is constituted into a plate-shape while being equipped with a laminated fiber group for which fiber bundles comprising a continuous fiber are arranged in a manner to become at least a biaxial orientation, and a constraining thread 14 which is arranged in a manner to penetrate the laminated fiber group in the thickness direction. The constraining yarn 14 is arranged in a manner to be orthogonal to the fiber arrangement surface of the laminated fiber group, and the insertion density of the constraining thread 14 to the laminated fiber group is 28,000 pieces/m2or higher.
