Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely supply ink without ink leakage by economically and compactly constituting an ink supply mechanism of a printer. SOLUTION: This ink supply mechanism comprises a recording head part 1 and an ink cartridge 2, which are constituted in the state of being separable from each other. The ink cartridge 2 comprises a cartridge body 21 for housing the ink, an opening 17 which is provided in the bottom of the cartridge body 21, and a plug member 18. The recording head part 2 comprises a recording nozzle part 3, a sub-ink-chamber 7 for supplying the ink to the nozzle part 3, and a protrusion-shaped connecting member 14 which is provided in the chamber 7. The connecting member 14 comprises an upper opening 15, a lower opening 16, and a communication passage for connecting the upper opening 15 and the lower opening 16 together. When the head part 1 and the ink cartridge 2 are connected together, a tip part of the connecting member 14 pushes out the plug member 18 into the cartridge body 2, so as to open the opening 17.
