Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system and a radio communication terminal capable of controlling a gain for a received signal to an appropriate value at high speed. SOLUTION: During an intermission time from the intermittent transmission of a data signal to a second terminal to the transmission of the next data signal, a first terminal transmits a gain control signal that is transmitted by a transmission power smaller than the data signal just for a predetermined value. When a reception power of the received signal is equal with or greater than a first threshold for identifying the data signal, the second terminal judges the received signal as a data signal and when above reception power is smaller than the first threshold, the second terminal judges whether or not the received signal is a control signal. When the received signal is a data signal or a control signal, on the basis of the reception power thereof, a gain of an amplifier is controlled. If the measured reception power becomes equal with or greater than the first threshold while the gain is controlled on the basis of the reception power of the control signal, just a predetermined value is subtracted from the gain and the gain control is then started on the basis of the reception power of the data signal.
