Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a resistor, in which the mounting efficiency of the resistor can be enhanced by making the top surface of the resistor smoother without producing burrs at the time of forming slit-like first slit sections on a sheet-like insulating substrate. SOLUTION: The method has a step of forming a plurality of pairs of layers on a sheet-like insulating substrate 21 and a step of forming a plurality of resistance layers 24 electrically connected to the plurality of pairs of layers. The plurality of pairs of layers which are formed on the sheet-like insulating substrate 21 include layers 22 containing at least gold as main components and are divided into a plurality of strip type substrates 21b by cutting the portion of the layers 22 containing gold as the main components by means of a cutting means.
