Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lactobacillus growth promoter which can be economically and massively produced from materials capable of being easily obtained at low costs, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing the lactobacillus growth promoter is characterized by thermally treating a sake lees liquid at 80 to 120°C to sterilize and remove ethyl alcohol, filtering the residue, and then subjecting the filtrate to a cation exchange treatment. The method for producing the lactobacillus growth promoter preferably further comprises fractionatating the cation-exchanged treated solution, concentrating a peak fraction having a prescribed absorption peak at a temperature of 80 to 120°C, and then adjusting the pH of the concentrated solution to neutral.
