Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film with a hard coating layer improved in interference irregularity, adhesion property and film curling property when a hard coating layer is formed on a film produced by a solution casting method substantially without using a chlorine-based solvent, and to provide a polarizing plate and a display apparatus using the above film. SOLUTION: The cellulose ester optical film is manufactured by a solution casting method by casting a dope prepared by dissolving a cellulose ester resin material in a solvent over a supporting body, releasing a web from the supporting body, drying and winding the web. The solvent contains an organic solvent selected from 2-12C ethers, 3-12C ketones, 2-12C esters and 1-12C alcohols.
