Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating the remaining life of a coil that nondestructively estimates the breakdown voltage of an insulation layer without removing the coil, and then estimates the remaining life from the estimated breakdown voltage in the coil with an internal electrode installed in the insulation layer. SOLUTION: The method for estimating the remaining life of the coil comprises a first process (step 1) for nondestructively estimating the breakdown voltage of the coil, by checking whether the cooling water from a conductor is water-leaked in the insulation layer to perform measurements needed for estimating the breakdown voltage of the coil when the cooling water from the conductor is water-leaked in the insulation layer; a second process (step 2) for nondestructively estimating the future drop curve of the breakdown voltage of the coil, from the future operating conditions of the coil; and a third process (step 3) for determining timing dropping until a voltage that the breakdown voltage is needed for the coil operation, by extrapolating the data determined from the first process and the second process.
