Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self supporting run-flat tire for improving ride comfort and enhancing durability, while attaining large run-flat capacity. SOLUTION: This run flat tire 10 has carcass, tread 34 and a belt structure 28. The carcass includes reinforcement ply 12 extending between a pair of bead parts 14, a pair of side walls 28 and inserts 42 within the side walls 28. An axial direction distance between bead heels 26 with each other of the pair of the bead parts 14 is BW. An axial direction distance between joining points with each other of a bead seat and a rim flange of a rim mounted with the tire 10 is RW. The distance RW of the rim is more than the distance BW of the tire. When the tire 10 is mounted on the rim to bring the bead heal 26 into contact with the joining point of the rim, the inserts 42 do not receive further stress when the tire 10 on the rim expands.
