Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video interface device in which a general-purpose microprocessor unit can be used and which efficiently transmits GUI (graphical user interface) data and decoding data, in a system constituted of the microprocessor unit (MPU) and a video CODEC. SOLUTION: The video interface device which displays GUI data and decoding data decoded by the video CODEC on a single liquid crystal display comprises the micro processor unit 100 which produces and outputs the GUI data and which is constituted of a single chip, the video CODEC 200 which has a selecting means 220 for producing the decoding data, receiving the GUI data and alternatively selecting and outputting the GUI data or the decoding data and which is constituted of one chip and a liquid crystal display driver 300 which receives output of the video CODEC 200 and performs driving for simultaneously displaying the GUI data and the decoding data within a single display frame.
