Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping device having a configuration capable of pushing back a gauge bar protruded against a frictional force of a seal while producing the whole of a damping device to short sizes. SOLUTION: In a damping device made by connecting both the ends of an attenuating device in which a brace and an attenuator are connected in series to columns, beams and others of a structure, an inspection cylinder 23 where the working fluid flows in, an inspection piston 24, one end of which is pushed by the working fluid flowed in, a gauge bar 25 provided at the other end of the inspection piston 24, and an oil leak checking block 22 having an exerting means 28 which exerts the other end of the inspection piston 24 is installed in a detachable manner.
