Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control system capable of reducing output shaft rotational frequency (vehicle speed) of a transmission in accordance with deceleration operation, at the same time, capable of reducing engine speed, and creating no uncomfortable feeling during operation. SOLUTION: The vehicle control system having an engine 2 and the hydro-mechanical transmission 1 further comprises a decelerator 60 changing target engine speed according to operating amount of a decelerator pedal 61; hydrostatic transmission part controlling means (40, 42, 43) for controlling a hydrostatic transmission part so as to make actual speed of the engine 2 coincident with the target engine speed; and engine control means (2a, 40, 50) for controlling the engine 2 such that when the target engine speed is changed from a first target value to the other target value lower than the first target value by the decelerator 60, output torque of the engine 2 is reduced, while keeping a ratio of the amount of change in the output torque of the engine 2 to the amount of change in the target engine speed constant or approximately constant.
